1250 Rene Levesque

Faster access and seamless exit for high-volume clients

1250, Boulevard René-Lévesque is a 199-meter (653 ft), 47-story skyscraper in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is the second tallest building in Montreal.

With over 900 parking spaces, this facility serves a diverse clientele, including daily commuters, monthly subscribers, and event attendees, aiming to provide a frictionless parking experience.

The Challenge

Clicknpark, the site operator, faced challenges at 1250 René Lévesque, mainly due to the diverse clientele and high traffic at the facility.

The parking lot, located near the Bell Centre and within an office tower, serves three main groups: daytime visitors, monthly subscribers, and event attendees.

For daytime visitors, the challenge was to enhance the fluidity of access, ensuring a smooth daily parking experience.

Monthly subscribers needed a system that reliably manages their access without causing delays.

Event attendees, who often arrive and depart in large volumes simultaneously, required a solution to efficiently handle peak traffic.

Specifically, this meant implementing a system that enabled payment at the entrance to expedite the exit process and manage the high volume of cars effectively during events. With 900 parking spaces and high traffic, it was essential to upgrade to a robust and resilient technology that could meet the needs of all these customers.

The Solution

To address the challenges at 1250 René Lévesque, Clicknpark, with the help of Gardaworld, implemented a range of technological solutions.

They integrated Survision LPR cameras, which automatically recognize registered license plates, allowing for instant barrier access at both entry and exit. All image analysis is done directly at the camera level, which allows for extremely fast access and no latency.

This is super important for a parking lot like this, where peak periods are extremely busy, as the system eliminates manual payment at kiosks, ensuring a smoother and faster experience for all users, especially during peak times. Process Technology equipment was installed for entry and exit hardware.

For people who make reservations in advance, monthly subscribers, and event clientele, the license plate is recorded in the Clicknpark application. When they arrive at the barrier, whether at the entrance or the exit, the barrier opens automatically, thus enhancing access fluidity. It also ensures a completely contactless and frictionless journey, tailored to today’s parking needs.

The new system allowed for payment terminals directly on the entry strips, which provided a ticket that was associated with the vehicle’s registration plate. As a result, people who have already paid can exit smoothly, with the barrier opening automatically at the exit.

GardaWorld brought all technologies together ensuring the smoothest transition by providing installation, maintenance, and service for the new equipment. Their support was essential in ensuring that the parking lot remained operational throughout the upgrade, minimizing disruptions and maintaining access for users.

Results

The implementation of the new technology at 1250 René Lévesque led to significant improvements. Integrating Survision LPR cameras and new Process Technology equipment resulted in a much smoother and more efficient parking experience.
